81 Days Around Kerala Tamilnadu – Travel Experience in Incredible India

From September 2018 till December, I was traveling and couchsurfing around Kerala and Tamilnadu for 81 days. In this trip, I’ve volunteered and stayed 13 days in Anandashram which was founded by Swami Ramdas, endearingly called Beloved Papa, at Kanhangad, Kerala South India in 1931. From this monastery or ashram, I went to Malom, which is a small town that lies lazily near the Western Ghats in Kasaragod district. Known as the ‘Coorg‘ of Kerala. There I stayed with a local family for 3 nights. After staying there, I’ve traveled to Varkala formerly known as Udaya Marthandapuram which is in Thiruvananthapuram district. In Varkala, I’ve stayed with a local family for…

    The WorkAway Journey

Short blurb Borrowing from a friend’s perspective, I can say that I’ve lived many lives. Once, twice, or 7 times I was a farmer. In another life I was a plant scientist. One time an attempt was made to be a masseuse, but abandoned as I sensed slavery coming about. In this current life I’m picking up the torch of writing story. To some we live only one life, how about the view that our life takes on many phases, and each phase can be seen as a mini-life? Now as a participant on WorkAway each new host/guest relationship is either a new life or progress on a former life.…

    The Downside of WorkAway

Intention To analyse how challenging it can be to receive orders/directions/suggestions from someone else when there is no payment involved. The psychology of working for less than the minimum requirements to sustain life; hence spending savings while working. Everything is going pretty smoothly around here from what I see… so what do you need me for? Seriously if it’s not me that you need, then you need not tell me what to do. Allow me to do what it is that I do, rather than asking me to be someone else (probably the someone else that you want me to be). Value what I do, rather than expecting me to…

None of this is for sale, and besides, with no income I’d rather not have to buy it.

A scattered-yet-connected bunch of topics related to the experiences of WorkAway. Questions come when I wake up, experience my morning routine, and then receive breakfast. All the work of yesterday was for that day and at the end of the day there was no monetary gain. What will I do to earn this breakfast in front of me? Was yesterday’s work sufficient to carry over? What will I do today to earn another night’s sleep, and lunch? None of this is for sale, and besides, with no income I’d rather not have to buy it. Future security disappears…or does it change? Everyday is like survival There is no legal obligation…

WorkAway and its Benefits for You and Me Both

How to arrive at a situation where the work carries personal benefit for me and is beneficial to others? Find what is beneficial to me and put it in one circle. Find what is beneficial to others and put it in another circle. Find the cross-section of the 2 and develop this. Be careful about the outer regions: that which is beneficial only to me or beneficial only to others, are the placements in these regions seeking attention but not receiving? Attaching to the ‘beneficial to me’ circle can be a circle for ‘detrimental to others’ so as to isolate the things that may need to be done in private…
